Re: THE CORRECT WAY TO REPLACE THE J HOSE ON A XC70

Been chasing an evap code for years. Is there any comprehensive guide to smoke testing our cars? I tried feeding smoke at the purge valve toward the back but didnt find anything worthwhile. Do you need to plug the vent near the filler cap? More info would be nice for a layman like me.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Unless someone says otherwise, the EVAP will need complete overhaul to bring it to factory. Start from the engine side of the car and work your way back to EVAP canister. It can be done in stages. See diagram for replacement items.

I have replaced:
MAF
Snorkle from air filter box to turbo
Turbo to OTE pipe rubber coupler
Intercool to OTE pipe rubber hose
Intercooler to TB Plastic Pipe
Purge Valve
All vacuum tree hoses in that area also going back to turbo

Still have the code
