But all jokes aside, dealer and any sort of chain service shop experiences have always been horrible for me. 3 hours to install tires, days without the vehicle when my seat heater decided to cause a cabin fire. DIY Saving money seems secondary to having to deal with these people. Frank Zappa would call them "flakes"
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Should have told the dealer you have 12,000 posts in a Volvo forum, maybe he would have started listening

This week I have replaced the front and rear oxygen sensors with brand new Denso ones. The reason being that I often got a P0420 code and thought maybe it was time to replace them. If the code appears again it's probably the cats.

The HiTrac. The reviews and performance sounded better than the other Vred.

Did they take you just showing up? The dealership near me will not taker anything without an appointment.BlackBart wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 20:36 Wowzers. We popped in at 8 AM when the Volvo techs start. Nice waiting room, wifi. Finished at 9:30, all buttoned up, matching steering wheel, seats wrapped in clear plastic. Car came out washed. Service writer was super cheerful and helpful, she went over the car with me. They reset the SRS light (from a cluster replacement earlier) and did a once-over on the whole car - came back with no systems to fix.
Zip, out the door, drove another 500 miles.
The stuff I need to do when I’m home and have room in the garage -
Replace windshield washer pump,
Replace front subframe mounts,
Replace motor mounts(?),
Install alum skid plate,
Angle gear oil,
Haldex oil and filter,
Fix window track rattle passenger door,
Some trim bits.
Since you're doing it for angle gear and Haldex, maybe also change the rear differential gear oil this time around?

Willis Volvo, yes been there and done that! As a high end dealer the level of service expertise is amazingly bad. Did have one experience that was excellent but a couple that were bad. Unfortunate East University Imports doesn’t work on electronics modules, they’ve pushed me to Willis for that.
I’m curious to drive a SPA car, like you I plan to be disappointed.

I had Quatrac 5 on XC70 and Quatrac Pro on XC60, they were awesome. XC70 is on Pinza AT now, they are awesome mild AT tires, too. Wife's Sequoia gets Pinza AT, too, when her factory set wears out.BlackBart wrote: ↑15 Oct 2024, 14:57 The HiTrac. The reviews and performance sounded better than the other Vred.

No, we had an appointment several weeks out. It’s a Volvo VW Kia Honda dealer complex.
I should check diff! We’re at about 140,000mi.

Lots going on. Lots of parts searching, organizing and repairing cars for others again. Still working on the 02 XC70. Just took our 06 XC70 winter rims to get new tires fitted and swap the old tires onto the spare rims for the 02. They are just over 6 years old and have probably 70% of the tread left. Way better than the 13 year old mixed/bald tires or the 12+ year old balding winter tires it came with. Should last a couple of years to get they young owner through University.
Hoping to get the fuel filter, O2 sensors and suspension checked over and a 'quick' alignment. Also swap the new front brake caliper brackets onto the car and bleed the brakes.
06 S60 2.5T AWD has been repaired with the hard work of my mechanic buddy. I sourced some of the parts and replacement tires. MY mechanic buddy swapped the cam seals and the timing belt and water pump. Then found the exhaust CVVT solenoid was pissing oil all over as well. I gave him a spare OE used one I had and a new gasket. Now looks good! Owner is thrilled. That is always the best bit!
Junkyard run tomorrow to try to find a good replacement upper tail light to replace the one we were given by Blacklab247. I will have to find a good one and polish it first!
Another buddy is looking to come over with his wife' (say it quietly 'VW Golf synchro) so we can get it up on the hoist for a transfer case oil service on Sunday.
Had the 06 V50 T5 AWD back again for diagnostics. Confirmed leaking heater core, sourced a Nissens for great price from Rock Auto and due today. Owner and his buddies plan to tackle it themselves. I sent them Vida info on the job to work from.
Also on the hunt for an angle gear and sleeve for a P3 XC70 T6. The sleeve has stripped out and taken the angle gear splines with it.
I might get to our own cars soon!
Neil.

Back from an 1850 mile roundtrip in Betty the black Volvo. She never missed a beat, smooth and quiet (except for the big Wyoming headwinds). A lot of hours of fast driving - it's weird to say to yourself "Oh, I should back off and slow down to 80." I passed a WY highway patrol Explorer going the other way at around 84 and he didn't even look at me. I followed a shiny pickup in a hurry at a steady 90 for over an hour.
Spectacular sunny fall day for a drive, with great colors and stunning mountain ranges. From Northern Wyoming, you hit the Bighorns, the Beartooths and Absarokas at the northern edge of Yellowstone Park as you climb upstream along the Yellowstone River, the Crazy Mtns like an island out on the flats, the Gallatin and Bridger ranges at Bozeman Pass, already white Lone Peak in the distance in the Madison range, the Tobacco Roots, Homestake Pass and the Continental Divide at Butte, the Pioneers and the Pintlers, the Flint Creek range, and then down the curvy and forested (Lewis &) Clark River valley to Missoula.
A bit exhausting. Glad to be home.
