1999 Volvo S80 broken engine mount

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 Volvo S80 broken engine mount

Post by 71Corvette »

Ok, so I knew I had a what I think is a broken motor mount under the car and today I got underenath to try to verify the part I need but I can't find the replacement part anywhere online. I snapped a few photos tonight while under the car, maybe they'll help identify what I need.

Any ideas what part I need? I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealer since it's an hour drive round trip...

You're welcome. If you don't want to spend the bucks for a new mount, you can do what I did on an old car of mine. Go to Home Depot, Lowes, or WalMart and pick up a tube of Window and Door Silicone sealant for $5. Slide under the car and shoot a bead of silicone into the space in the mount on each side. Wait 24 hours for it to dry. Repeat until the space is filled with silicone. Works like a charm. Still springy but not rock hard. :D

 Nevermind. I just noticed that you're missing part of the aluminum casting around one of the rubber bushings, so you need a new mount. I wonder what happened to cause that to break off - it would seem to take a lot of force. Did you hit a rock?
