S60 HID light kit causes Low Beam Failure Light

Post by esconet »

The Kit works great (HID is the way to go) but it causes the driver information center to constantly flash Low Beam Failure, even though its still working. I suspect it is due to the change in wattage/Amperage...Is there any way to disable or reset parameters for this Drivers Info center?
Any one out there done it?

Thanks

You'll need voltage stabilizers. Your HIDs draw 35W, while halogens draw 55W. What I'd really recommend is installing an MTec HID kit for the Volvo S60, their ballasts for the P2 cars doesn't trigger the bulb failure circuit of the CEM, which causes your DIM error message.

You need either bulb out harness or a 55w kit.

Hi guys.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on S60R headlights and put thm in my XC70. They look fantastic and they are xenon. However my car also gives me the same error message but goes away 5 minutes after starting up.

You can also fix the problem as described here and its basically a free fix: http://www.xenonvalot.com/xenonfixvolvo.html

I used this fix on my XC and it has worked perfectly for over 2 years.

I got my DRL disabled by the dealer and installed SharpsHID 55W with BOW, apparently, BOW will eliminate the Low Beam Failure when both HID lights are ON. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Some how only one side of HID will come on. If and only if the headlight switch is in the ON position prior of starting the engine, otherwise, switch to ON after starting the engine will cause HID to come on for fraction of a sec then completely off. Try with relay harness 40Amps, doesn't work well either. HID will begins to 'slowly flicker' left side then right side and back/forth. Now with both BOW and relay harness, can't seem to turn HID off with light switch. Has to turn ignition to aux on/off at the same time with main light switch for several times before HID light goes off. Warning...occasionally HID will come on without ignition being on or light switch to on, drained battery. Yes, fustrating. Being told by SharpsHID not to disable DRL and flash for HID. Don't believe these theories, b/c dealer can't flash halogen to HID. Anyone encountered the described issues?
THanks,
RT

There is a way that will cost nothing just time and maybe a few swear words just do what the link says and remember if you do not know how big a 2mm drill bit is just do what I did start small and get bigger until the warning is gone totally worked even though my hid kit is not the same as the web sites
