Air Intake Boot Vacuum Line

Post by suurrgeon »

I'm new to this forum so I'm sure there's already a post for this somewhere, but I'm still very confused and can't exactly find the answer I'm looking for on my '98 GLT.

I hired a mobile mechanic to redo my vacuum lines, and he connected almost all of them to the wrong areas. I'm pretty sure I've managed to reconnect all of them into the right places execpt for this one coming off the top of the air intake boot, on which I'm confused as to where this is supposed to hook up to.

This may also be unrelated, but as I was correcting the vacuum lines I saw this port-looking thing on the back of the engine. Is this supposed to have something attached to it?

Apologies if this is a dumb post, I'm kinda new to working in my car's engine bay and don't feel like shelling out more money on something I can do myself. If I could be guided to a good post on this or be given answers I'd appreciate it - thanks.

Edit*if its a small “J” type of hose it’s to the tcv

Most likely it goes to the fuel pressure regulator. You have to unscrew it and lift it up and you’ll see a metal pipe that it goes into that runs across engine/firewall to the fuel pressure regulator that at least on my 98 is on the passenger side firewall near the wheel.

The nipple on the opposite side then goes to the turbo control valve which should be attached to the top of the air box on the back left corner

I appreciate it, just figured it out this morning. I was really confused on where exactly the other end of the line was supposed to go and just found the small metal piece connecting to the FPR that sticks out from the other tube next to the bottom of the intake boot. Thanks 👍
