Dealership replaced my Haldex 5 AOC pump on my 2013 XC70 T6. Said I should replace the oil at 30,000 miles after pump replacement. I hit 30,000 miles and call dealership. They are confused as to why I want to replace the oil, saying Volvo doesn’t recommend ever changing the AOC pump oil.
What is the correct answer?

Volvo unfortunately began "lifetime" fluid recommendations in components like this, and transmissions, around 2000. Many many P2 owners followed this for their transmissions and saw these fail north of 100k miles. I have a feeling this may be similar.
In other words, officially it's listed as lifetime, but the "street" says change it. The street being DIYers and techs who know. This is only speculation based on the P2 transmission debacle. I don't have a gen 3 XC70 and don't have "hard" knowledge about this. I just know I get the shakes when I read Volvo saying any fluid is "lifetime".

I’m a believer that any vehicle should have drivetrain fluids changed (drain and fills) every 30k miles. While it may seem excessive if the goal is to make it 200-300k miles it is cheap insurance. If you trade after 50k then it doesn’t matter I suppose.
Only caveat may be where design engineers made the effort extraordinarily difficult…then 60k would suffice. I agree with Matt the idea of lifetime is ridiculous.

Adding to the comments supporting fluid changes:
Any device with moving parts and lubrication will benefit from change of lubricant before the end of product life. Any moving parts will create wear particles which can add to future wear. Product designers may have reason not to recommend fluid changes (maintenance cost, convenience, even product obsolescence), but changing the lubricant will extend the life as long as recommended, original specifications are met. Don't try to use a cheaper refill product that does not meet the specifications, or you may reduce the product life.
Lubrication (technically tribology) is a complex subject, but the most basic requirement is clean lubricant.
