My 2001 S80 2.9L (without a turbo) was not running well, so I decided to smoke-test the intake. I removed the Engine Air Intake Hose (Part Number: 9161391) from the mass airflow sensor at the point 1 in the attached image, in the black box, then put the smoke machine output in that same hose.
Smoke started to leak at the junction between the other end of the hose (red box 2 in the image) and the throttle body. I confirmed that the hose clamp was tight, and then I removed and replaced the hose from the throttle body. This only moved the leak to a different part of the hose-throttle body junction.
Is the fix for this leak a new hose or something else? The car did not have an o-ring at this junction when I purchased it, and I have never seen an o-ring at this junction on any parts diagram or any instructions for servicing either the hose or the throttle body.

It is best to replace air intake hose, I have. It becomes brittle with age and cracks.

Thank you. I have ordered a new hose, with the idea that any used hose will eventually have the same issue. It is, of course, one of those parts that must be special ordered, and I do not have access to "Overnight parts from Sweden"
I will report back once the new hose eventually arrives.

The new fresh air intake pipe arrived. It did not fix the air leak.
I cannot feel any cracks or imperfections in the throttle body opening, and I would quite like to try other things before replacing what appears to be a perfectly fine throttle body.
Does anyone have any ideas for sealing this connection? Preferably not something like foam tape that would fall apart and enter the engine...

Maybe the gasket on the throttle body has gone? I don’t think we have ever recorded a throttle body cracking, here
