Radio problem

Hey I'm new. I needed some help with my 1995 Volvo 850 T5. A little while ago my cassette player stopped working as well as my 4 rear speakers, they would cut in and out, most times did not work at all. I figured since they were all going in and out it must be a problem with the radio itself so 2 weeks ago, I got in a new radio. All fixed the four rear speakers worked fine and my cassette player worked. Until i got into the car today and noticed now all of my front four speakers don't work. I'm not good with radios and wondering if any of you had this problem and or could help me with getting this fixed. All wires were unplugged and plugged into the radio unit. The radio is sc-111 premium sound system. Thank you

Sorry, what radio model do you have? SC-XXX? Is it an SC-801/815/811/816 or ?? I'm going to guess it is an SC-811 with radio and cassette only. Any reason you didn't upgrade to one with a CD player as well?

It is unusual to lose all 4 speakers front or back. Have you hit the fader slider by mistake which moves all speaker sound front to rear or reverse?

SC-811 replaced an 8 with a 1 on accident. It has a cd player in the truck. fader is not an issue with the old radio put fader to the rear it didn't work an with this new radio with fader all the way front it does not work. When I bought replacement radio, I made sure it was the same SC-811. I found it unusual that all four go out which I assume it's something with the head unit itself. thank you

Again that is unusual. Has any modifications been done to the harness?

You can fit any of the SC-XXX radios to your car if you wish. The only one to not fit is the SC-900/901 units as they have no internal amplifier. For those you need an amplifier. The 850's mounted the amp behind the head unit under the dash. Later cars mounted them to the floor under the passenger seat.

It seems strange you miss all the front or rears. It is not an issue I recall reading of over the years. It may be a peculiarity of the 811 head unit.

I will try to find the thread I did on making a speaker and radio testing unit as I think it has wiring diagrams that may help. They are for the 98-00 S/V 70 but should be similar to the 850. At least you have heard all the speakers working which is good.

Sounds like a blown amplifier in the "new" radio. I fitted shortly a sc805 iso my sc901 ( to be fixt) only diferance was no amp conection. All speakers did work with the inbord amp

It is possible, just strange that both radios have the same issue of losing all front or rear speakers depending on the radio.

Maybe it is just bad luck on 30 year old radios.

Maybe you just need a 3rd radio?

Hi. My car had originally cr-906 as a radio/cd changer. Can i put a sc-811 instead? Do i need to do any modifications?
