Volvo s70 t5 compatible wheels

Post by perhss70 »

I'm on a junkyard for the week and I am looking for new wheels for my volvo s70. The 16 inch comets I have have been rubbing only on full turns. I was looking for some 17' titans with no luck. Are there any other newer volvo wheels that should fit?

Thanks .

The issue is the offset of the wheels. I think I mentioned this before, that most of the P80 wheels had around 43mm offset. That is just enough usually not to cause rubbing. 15/16/17" wheels with the correct tires in theory should be no different as they adjust the tire height so the overall tire and wheel diameter is the same or it will affect your speedometer reading. The only difference is 16" wheels where Volvo changed the tire height in North America as owners were complaining of the tires bursting when they hit a pot hole. They increased the sidewall height by approximately 5mm (I think it was from a 205/50/16 to a 205/55/16 tire). The rims stayed the same.

If you can find a rim with a lower offset (Again I have seen P80 rims with a 36mm offset) that will help prevent the rubbing on full lock.

Most P2 rims will fit but a lot of them ran with larger offsets of 49mm. I have those on my car which is an AWD and they work ok, or at least they did until Volvo fitted new sub-frame bushes. Now it rubs on full lock on one side on the same wheels and tire combo as before which didn't. Rim width also can make a difference as well. The 4J-6.5J or more will also move the tire closer to the inside of the car. So ideally you need to check what the originals were and try to find something similar.

Many P2 cars run with 235mm wide tires on their rims which on my car will rub.

Final point. On P80 FWD cars watch for the larger offset rims and wider tires rubbing on the parking brake cables.

I found some comets in a yard. Sadly after buying them I noticed they were the 7.5x17 and not the 7's... Kinda weird since they were on an 850. They also have 225/45/17's on... Will they fit?

most likely. they will look awesome. you might wanna add the bumpstops that came wirh R cars so you can't turn them to full lock, where they will rub occasionally orherwise.

What is the offset on those Comets? If they are 43mm then you may be ok. Check the rears first that they don't rub on the parking brake cable behind them.

The R stops may help the inner fender plastic rubbing like Clemens recommends.

Good Luck!

We run 225/45-17's on the Neptunes (17x7) that are on the wife's 855. No issues, but we don't run it low. The extra 1/2" width shouldn't be an issue.

Do you happen to have part number for these? Also what's the difference between S70 C70 and the R's ?

Also should I find steering stops?
