2001 v70 am antenna for aftermarket

I have very poor am reception when I changed to a pioneer aftermarket radio. Is there a power connector on the harness that needs to be connected to the antenna power on the aftermarket radio? Perhaps it is not clear to me how the antenna amp gets power. The 2 connections on the green plastic box in the right rear floor panel (v70) just ahead of the bumper seem tight. After searching this forum I am still puzzled. Any help would be appreciated.
