Every time I start the car and take my foot off the brake I get "Check Stop Lamp" light and oddly it is not a Stop lamp bulb that is out, it is my driver side high beam headlight that does not work. I thought replacing rhe entire assembly would fix it and it did not.
Somehow my car thinks that it is my Stop lamp that is out. I have verified all tail lights and rear fog light work perfectly.
Any idea how to fix?

A bit of a longshot but may be worth replacing the offending bulb anyway. It is possible for an ‘almost failed’ bulb to trigger the canbus error.
I had a taillight warning on my old 2007 BMW motorcycle, taillight worked but was quite aged — changing the bulb made my error go away.
