Exhaust Temp sensor location

Post by Cvovo7 »

Hello Volvo world!! I have a 96 850 glt that's having issues starting during colder Temps. Thing is fine and quiet in the summertime but winter and fall may take you 30 times to get it started. I've gone down the checklist and come to the conclusion of a buzzing noise coming from the dash, which is where relays are located. After doing research. I found out that relay 207 is the exhaust temp sensor relay. Any idea where the sensor is actually located on these? Any help would be a blessing

Is it lpt or n/a?
For some markets GLT is trim level.
Check codes to see what dtc is(are) stored.

It could be bad ECT or it's wiring.

Exhaust temp relay? What is that. Only electrical thing connected to the exhaust is theO2 sensors. As Misha has said, try checking the ECT for resistance values and carefully check the connector mounted behind the poser steering pump. This breaks up with age and the wiring also tends to fail in and at the connector. There are resistance values for the ECT/coolant sensor based on ambient temperature.

There is a warning lamp on instrument cluster about exhaust temperature on 850 and 70 series p80 cars but it's not used...it's a spare bulb socket for most markets.
I think that i read somewhere that it's used on cars for Japanese market only.

Found it:

Awesome. Thanks to everyone. I will check it once I get off work. Starts fine in hotter weather. Already changed ect sensor, apparently that 207 relay is what I'm hearing buzz before the car wants to cooperate and start but that is after it gains a little heat from trying to start it. Thanks again
