Problem with Volvo V70

Post by loisfinne »

Hello,
I just bought a Volvo V70. Normally, I take the train, but today is going to be a long day at work, so my girlfriend let me use the car since she usually needs it during the day. Unfortunately, it rained all night, and this was my first time driving in the rain with the new car.

During the drive, I noticed the speedometer was stuck at 60 km/h even though I was actually going 90 km/h, and the fuel gauge dropped from half-full to empty. I stopped at the nearest place and checked all the fuses. I found two that were blown and replaced them, but they were just for the fog lamps and an alarm. I ended up having to drive home and now I'm waiting for the train, running late for work. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

What year and model is the V70?

It takes a few months to Suss out the gremlins on a new to you purchase. Do it on weekends until the car is good to go.

Yes, I’m often late to work taking the train.

it might have been on a car lot for a while before it was sold, everything is stuck from sitting.
If my tank shows half full but after a few hours the level on the gauge drops, I got used to it, just fill ther tank and watch, it probably happens a lot.

"Has anyone else experienced this issue?"

Perhaps not exactly your fuel gauge and speedo problems, but odd behavior has occurred in many P2 Volvo instrument panels.
From 2000 (Europe, 2001 in No. America) to the 2004/5 facelift vehicles, problems were to be expected. Post facelift vehicles got the products through 2007 and 2008 (S80?) with far fewer failures.

However, your vehicle's situation, being a 2022 XC-90, should be posted in its own section. Changes were made.
