98 v70 air con issue

Post by Andrewoakland »

OK so just replaced a faulty blower motor and also replaced the resistor in the 98 v70, 150,000 miles. The air conditioner hasn't worked well since I got the car though. Air con though takes forever to get cool (like 10 minutes) and then is not really all that cool. Where do you all think I should start?

Thanks Again!

1. Buy a bottle of proper refrigerant with the gauge and check if the system needs to be topped. Most likely you will have some leaks here and there in the system, but doubt you would like to replace all o-rings and pressure test the system.
2. Look threads into checking the ac compressor gap and how to adjust it.

The p80 evaporators last 10-15 years under use so inspect that. Remove the cabin air filter under the dash cowl ( under hood) and use a bore scope to look at it first, if it’s greasy and dark it’s leaking coolant. 10 hours to get dash out to replace but ot isn’t hard work, just need to be methodical about fasteners and connectors

You can also inspect directly by removing the passenger kick panel and blower power resistor pack .I’ll try find pictures

Thanks to both of you. I topped off the refrigerant and so far, so good. Now on to replacing the dang ABS module. One thing after another with this old girl

Mattymoo in Michigan is the go to guy for stop, too. For ~100 shekels you get a fixed and tested ABS module back
