my trip to Skandix Germany

Post by darylrobert »

I decided to stop in at Skandix Germany for some parts for my 2001 xc70, they have moved location and have a big new factory just around the corner from the old place, a showroom with some nice old cars.

Reality hit when i was told the volvo factory in Gothenburg no longer have parts for the 2001, i thought that it was 30 years parts support? what about the 2007 P2 is that still supported?

So anyway i visited an old school junkyard called Kiesow near Hamburg, where i pulled some parts that looked new.

I thought it was 10 years. Before 2017 I could buy just any part for my 2005 from the dealer. After that some model-specific parts were marked as discontinued. The biggest cliff drop was in 2019: S60 stopped production in 2009 + 10 years. Some parts shared with XC90 were available till 2024.

I'm not sure, but it looks like Volvo may have revived P2 parts production in China?

Remember when you could walk into a dealer or a NAPA and buy any part for your old Ford truck?

And the only men who wore skirts were Scots, and we were too afraid to call them on it?
