Green electrical connector crimp tool?

Ive sourced the green connectors Volvo use, they are JAE brand IL-AG5 series connectors. Does anyone know what crimp tool to use??

I recycle, re-use salvaged wires and plugs but sometimes have to make them. Note: de-pinning these can be a challenge, there are two small tabs that need to released at the same time. Also the male pin (shown) goes with the Female looking connector, its easy to get male female pins and connectors mixed up

It is difficult to judge the size of the connectors, but I had good luck with the Engineer crimpers:

You'll have to measure the width of the crimp connector to select the correct die width and then select the appropriate crimper for the task.

They are single stage, meaning you have to do two operations for the full crimp, but in many cases that is good because you don't have to get a specialized crimping die.

i checked out your 3D prints, how difficult would it be to print a volvo button, not the whole thing just the moving part pictured?

ive had some custom circuit boards made, they make the buttons in white plastic so the light comes through, then paint them grey/black

That is probably possible, however it would have to be printed in SLS (powder) due to the high amount of details and the small size.
The print itself is simple and you can even color the part similar to the original one or even print it multi-colored with MJF (Multi-Jet Fusion). The difficult part would be the modelling and personally I don't really have a use for it.

I purchased this tool for home and for work after seeing it many years ago on a Chrysler mechanic's workbench. If you are very careful, it works for almost every electrical connector brand. There are many copies and other suppliers for the same tool. The key detail is to get the 5 different size crimps with the double curve on the seat side to roll the two crimps over and into the stripped wire bundle.

thanks i bought a crimping tool that i am 90% happy with. it does a neat job of crimping the wire and insulation at the same time but has a tendency to slightly bend the terminal.

For those JAE IL-AG5 connectors you'll want an open-barrel crimp tool, usually the Engineer PA-09 or PA-21 works fine. They're not "official" but they get the job done without destroying the tabs
