Started with the base coat, finally. I just did the drop coat after these were taken.

I've prepped a lot for this, high build primer, got blocked down, then I put another layer of epoxy as a sealer over that and I wet sanded it with P600 paper

And today I put down the base coat:

I've just put down a drop coat to heighten the metallic feel. I think I'll hold on until tomorrow for the clear coat.

Very nice !
Make sure that the roof trim is well attached, especially from the roof down to the cowl. I had the wind pull one of mine off that I had replaced when I was going at a rather high speed. It bent right at the roof and flapped along the drivers side window till I could pull over.
Surprisingly it just bent back with no real damage. But now they have a dab of sealant down by the cowl.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Unless it’s like, a 1962…..

<EDIT>...wait, that ain't right, they didn't have them yet.
But I WANT IT!!!!

It does have issues, like oil leaks, no AC, no heat, drivers side door sits funny. It does seem to run well, and looks really nice. Very minimal rust (not enough to worry about on a fair weather car, for me).

I'd need to get rid of another car right away, if I bought it.

Got caught in the rain and seem to have spring a new leak.

I can't tell if it's from the windshield, or if rain crept in when I got in the car from the uncompressed door seal or similar. It's been through a couple monsoons already including one a couple weeks ago with no issues

The ignition did change over the years, but this particular one does indeed have a Lucas ignition. I'm not sure about the other electrical systems.

While starting it sounds like a small WW2 fighter.

They're the bushings and support plates for the top of the nivomat shocks, and I fear that they may be going bad on my XC. I recently laid down the $600+ for new nivomats as I couldn't find a definitive way to side-grade to regular rear shocks and springs and keep the XC ride height.
I've run into the same issue - need a replacement for the old #9157320, or some other way to attach the AWD rear suspensions.
I bought some non-nivomat suspensions, but the top attachment is the same. Maybe it's possible to machine a matching part.
Would be easier if I still had the original to use as a template though.

I believe there are two pieces, the cups that go on top of the shocks are still available but pricy, the other part is a metal cup covered in rubber if I remember correctly.

Does anyone in the Hudson Valley or surrounding area need doors off a 97 nautic blue 850 with a tan interior? Or seats, interior trim, sedan rear speakers, gauge cluster with fixed odometer, 130k mile engine, intercooler, <2000 mile radiator? If you need anything, please send a DM before it goes to a scrapyard.
