The bottom half of the pump , missing in action, probably had the electrical connection

Thats definitely a motor of some kind

There was the other end of the electrical connection nearby, so this fits. I’ve ordered a new one, I might have the old one bronzed.

Here is the crispy pump next to a new one for those who haven’t seen one. Quite a difference.

Do you think plain water was allowed to freeze in the original?
I do.

Makes sense. I’d be guessing, though, I’ve only had it two years.

I stopped using summer windshield washer fluid as winter turns up here unexpectedly every year and the summer stuff freezes. I just keep a stock of winter fluid for all the cars after the XC70 ended up like an Alien movie stomach explosion like your unit!

There was a period of time where the windshield and headlight washer pumps had really bad corrosion protection. I found that the pumps out of the late 2007 cars are very rust resistant. The pick-n-pull junkyards have good parts that didn't die due to road salt.

So , technically it was in the opposite of Hell, or it did freeze over.

I wonder if Frozen Car Parts is covered on the FCp warranty
