2020 V60CC - 36K Tune up

A 50,000 miles service this weekend included oil and filter change. This was an annual maintenance with Pennzoil Euro 0W30.

The 10 screws holding engine protective cover take 27-torx. There is a clip that holds-in-place during the removal and installing. The engine cover at the oil filler takes 40-torx if you want to remove it for the joy of maintenance.

Used this correct oil filter cap wrench for removing and installing.


Drain at the oil filter cap takes 40 torx; replace the o'ring and screw the torx back on. Now remove the housing, replace o'ring and replace filter. Drain plug at the oil pan is 17mm.

The fluid capacity is 6.1L (6 qt bottles +/- 420ml); added 150ml to oil filter cap before screwing it back on, later poured the remainder at the filler to make the the exact amount.

The air filter housing cover takes 25-torx; loosen it so it's free and then pull up.

The reset oil level at the center console is intelligent and it prompts.

It felt like an engine misfire when AC came on. It happened few times in last 30 days. Overall no issues with driving it past 57,200 miles now.

This 60,000 miles services included oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs and, cabin-air filter. I'm using MAHLE filters, Pennzoil 0W30, and Volvo spark plugs for this service.

Few observations:

The MAHLE air-filter's 1/2" thick grayish filtering mesh-fiber layer attached to pleated paper was 1/4" short all around when compared with MANN filter that I just pulled out. No issues with seating either in the air-box. Is one filter better than the other?

The spark plugs came off easy -- threaded to snug tight. The #2 spark plug (2nd from timing belt) was covered with excessive brown powdery substance, where 1, 3, 4 were cleaner burns. Why is it like this? Do send the oil to Blackstone for analysis?

This is my 3rd oil-filter change since the end of previous 3 done at Volvo service under their 36,000 miles coverage. There are two oil filter inserts to choose from "old vs new". Per Volvo, my previous two were 32140029 -- with 4 ear-tabs around the brim.

This time I decided to switch over to MAHLE oil filter insert, and it look like this and uses OE Reference #32140029 -- no ear-tabs around the brim. There were no issues with either seating the filter in the housing nor screwing the housing back on to the engine.



Should I expect issues with functioning of oil-filter due to the change of filter anatomy -- flow of oil through the filter?

LASTLY, would it be better to edit the title of subject to something other than ... - 36K Tune Up?

Top plug gap looks huge in photo. Unless newer Volvo gap spec is wider than P2 specs.
Have you checked gaps? Could cause misfire.
