850 Petrol part on fuel line

Hy Guys,

As i was working on reinstall new fuel hoses lines, i've seen this part. Do i need to change it, because mine is rather rusty on the outside. What is the function of this part ? A fuel pressure ?

I'm not sure what it is, but could it be a damper?

Can you post the whole drawing as I don't recognize the part from what I can see. It could be a pressure regulator or one way valve.

Although not listed, I think it is called a fuel pulse regulator. I can only think it is a device to steady fuel flow pressure. I have attached the fuel line it is part of, however, in this case for North America, it lists it is only fitted with the fuel pulse regulator on certain chassis number ranges:

Perhaps your car does not have one fitted?

I don't know. This part is on the line, i will let it in place. But i will have to unplug it because the replacement of fuel line. It will be the opportunity to have a closer look and to clean it. Pictures to come.

My 1975 245 had a similar looking part that rusted out soon after I purchased the car about 1990. The replacement came from Volvo dealer and was called pressure damper.

I will take it apart carefully and clean it, before to plug it to new fuel line...

Interesting that is shown as part of the fuel rail, and the parts drawing shows it as part of the pipework. Hm.
