Interchangeable parts for transmission computer?

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

1992 - 1997 850, including 850 R, 850 T-5R, 850 T-5, 850 GLT
1997 - 2000 S70, S70 AWD

Make sure its returnable for at least credit. We have had one T/ECU part failure on this entire forum, since I joined in 2013.

No. 1999 is the CAN intro year and TCU also gets security matching starting that year. No plug n play. 97 850 LPT and 98 LPT have interchangeable TCUs but 97 HPT are M4.3 with 98 HPT becoming M4.4. I remember a pin differs between those two and the 98 HPT will have a transmission error with 97 and down HPT TCU in it.
