OBD Pinout - V50 2008/2009

Post by SwedeV50 »

Hello everybody :)

Long time lurker and reader of these forums, found a lot of helpful information here,
so a big thanks to everyone here for posting!

Now to my issue:

My dad is the owner of an V50 2008 model, registered as a 2009, with an 2.0 Diesel (the PSA engine).
I wanted to connect my VIDA to his car to reset his service message etc., only to find out that some "genius" has cut
all of the wires to the OBD port. For what reason, I cannot fathom.

I've found the wiring diagrams for my specific model, and pulled out the pins from the connector housing in hope that I could rewire it,
but 4 of the 7 wires I can see have the same color coding, 2 are blue with red stripe, 2 are grey with a red stripe, making it impossible to know which pin they belonged to.

Looking at the EWD, it seems that pin 11 and pin 14 should be blue/red and pin 6 and pin 3 should grey/red.

Is there any way to measure this to connect correct wire to correct pin?

I've attached a screenshot of the Diagnostics wiring from the EWD and a picture from the loose hanging wires in the car, in hope that this helps to figure this out.

Best regards, Tim

The simple answer is to use an ohm meter, or continuity / test light and battery. You'll need to disconnect the car's battery. Then unplug the "B" connector from the CEM, carefully poke small wire or test probe into the "B" connector pins, and the other meter probe to each of the wires. Hopefully you have the ability to make good splices to reconnect the wires.

Just FYI - a full explanation is at https://www.flexihub.com/oobd2-pinout/
But here's a diagram, looking into the port as mounted on the car

1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!
