Vehicle is a 2005 S40. My wife drives it - treats it like a baby (and I maintain it per the book). About 2 weeks ago the SRS warning light came on. There were no accicdents, hard bumps, nothing to cause a deployment.
Long story short; while in the car the other night - scratching my head and trying to figure this out - I noticed that the seatbelt warning light was NOT illuminated. Goes without saying that I was in the drivers seat, engine running and did not have the belt in the buckle. The little man with the strap across his chest should have been illuminated, right?
He doesn't come on anymore and the SRS (bubble guy) is always on. My question is; are the two circuits interfaced? In other words does the SRS circuit encompass more than just the airbags, specifically does that circuit monitor the seatbelt switches as well?
SRS on - Seatbelt light not on

The answer is yes...fix the SRS problem and the seatbelt guy will illuminate again. Like I said in the other post, I had an 850 that had the mylar strip that expands and retracts as you turn the steering wheel (it's in the steering wheel) broke and the same thing happened. It took a bit to figure out what part to replace but when I did, the replacement was easy. I still had to go to the dealer to get the SRS light turned off.
Hopefully others will have some insight to your problem as well.
