Patience is also the trick. Been there - done that... could not get belt to fit. Then all of a sudden it fits. Be sure to Slide belt onto the pulley with no lip, last.

Happy ending - timing belt is on - it wasn't quite tight on the crank pulley as I thought it'd been - extra set of hands was helpful.
All is running well now.
Thanks for helping this novice fight my way through to the other side.
Always reminded to slow down, double check the work. Patience! When you've never felt what its supposed to feel like it just goes slower.
On to the next thing!
