How often clean sunroof drains? 2024 XC90

Post by HabTraine »

We have a 2024 XC90 that is leased and has 22K miles. Just discovered massive amounts of water in car after check engine light went on. Service wanted a ton of money to drain car and suspected source was clogged sunroof drains. Claimed this is not a warranty issue and we were responsible. We just had 20K miles service done in late August. There is no mention of sunroof drains in owner’s manual. There is no debris in sunroof and we never open it. Anyone know how often the recommendation is to unclog drains? We are trying to dry the car out and get check engine light off before we turn it in off lease in 10 days. This is our 4th XC90 and will be our last.

I'd be surprised if drains are mentioned at all in the owners manual. As a dealer service item, ... I guess the same. I'd be surprised there too. But it's probably not the drain. More likely it's the seal. And I have a feeling that too is not a documented check item.

Sorry you have this problem. If there was a way to send this post out to every SPA owner or potential owner when I wrote it 19 months ago, I'd have pressed that button. Alas.

Please post back regarding turning it in when the lease ends.
