Someone help ID this connector? 2000 V40 Estate Wagon (B4204T2)

Post by Truehaji »

I bought this cheap wagon with a blown head gasket, and it was kinda in pieces. Ive connected back everything to start it up but find it cranks without start, but sometimes coughs a bit like it wants to. It has fuel pressure and i tried with starter fluid as well but wouldnt start. Did not get a chance to check for spark yet but my coils and plugs look okay. Theres just this one brown 3pin connector i have no idea what its supposed to plug into because everything else is connected, i thought it looked similar to the camshaft position sensor connector but im unsure since it seems to be plugged in else already

Help is greatly appreciated, this is my first volvo ever 😃

is the plug male or female? looks like it might be for your MAF

which should be connected to the big black open ended pipe in the bottom right with the loose hose clamp, i think.

Quite sure that is the knock sensor pigtail (replaced mine recently).
If you have a VIN I could check in Vida where it should connect to.

In case of my 2003 V40 it connects at the back of the engine compartment, under the windshield behind a cover, see photo attached.
Note the pigtail in the photo was ripped and roughly taped together, the original one is exactly like the one in your photo.
