GLove box broekn! Best and cheapest advice to open

My 94 volvo 850 glovebox will not open. This happened a while ago and i have very important items in there! Please give me some advice asap!

You're probably going to have to pull the glove box open enough that there's a gap to put a hack saw blade into the gap (protect the edge of the vinyl with duct tape) and saw through the metal brackets that hold the lock into place. Get new brackets at the dealer or for cheaper, the junk yard. Then you can perform this fix so this doesn't happen again: http://www.quickbrickmotorsports.com/tech_glovebox.html

I'd skip the one about putting a hole in teh front of the glove box cover. Cutting teh U-shaped bracket is really quite easy, once you see it. Mine decided to break on the day that I started the evaporator replacement job, with my first step being to remove the glove box (classic timing). However, by inserting shims to hold the door as open as possible (shims on each side of center, so access to the bracket is not blocked, but not out at the edges, since the door is pretty flexible and you want the shims close to center). You will get a small amount of space between top of door and bottom edge of dash cover, but that is enough for a flexible blade to be inserted. Be sure to protect the edges of door and dash from the blade's teeth. I used a standard Sawzall with metasl blade, and it didn't take more than a minute or so to cut through each each side of the bracket. After that the door is open and you just follow teh instructions to replace the bracket and then repair or replace teh lock mechanism. Teh broken part is just a small pin, and there are instructions to fix that with a stronger piece that look very easy and cheap. I bought the repair kit ($$), but now would just fix the old lock part. You need a new bracket regardless, but that is cheap.

Either you are very patient or I cannot hear the swearing from my house in Suburban Kansas City.

That would have set off a really big tirade on my part.
