I am working on right side camshaft seals for my 2001 V70 T5. I believe I got everything disassembled. I tried several ways to loosen the VVT center bolt and finally threw caution to the wind and used 4 foot cheater pipe on a 3/8 ratchet with the cam lock tool as back stop. It worked and nothing seemed to get broken. I used the CTA cam lock.
cn90's instructions were a great help. See here viewtopic.php?p=604761&hilit=vvt+center+bolt#p604761
I discovered the right side engine mount also needs to be replaced. Also need the left side plastic cover. Another parts order in the morning to FCP.
The next few days will be cold and I will wait of parts and warmed weather.

Aye, aye! Ben doesn't have high boost and I rarely make him drive any more spirited than a 90 year old bitty. I did tighten the bejeesis out of my T-clamps intentionally as historically, I do tend to undertighten hose clamps. He threw a MIL when his V-band clamp broke and I knew then he wasn't as fragile as his kicked-to-the-curb-but-sometimes-still-missed BMW siblings.

You guys are awesome, keep that sh*t up. <3

Not today, but ended 2025 by spending a chunk of the day doing an oil and filter change on our friend's sons car (02 XC70) and also that of his girlfriend (03 XC70 - Blackie as previously owned by Blacklab). I had filters and crush washers 'in stock' and the son brought enough oil for both cars. Blackie just needed the oil and filter, and after a check over, the wheel vibration at speed was put down to rusty steel wheels trapping snow/ice. Recommended fitting the wheel trims they have for the car to reduce chances o it happening again. Also found a small oil leak from the transmission cooler return hose at the trans end. just a small weep for now, so we can get the seal and will tackle it at the next service.

The 02 is the one I helped save last year before it went to our friends son as a donated car from another friend. 30,000km and 3 oil changes in a year, and that included hitting a dear 2 days into his ownership. It still needs a front bumper cover and the front main metal slam panel needs a tweak to make the hood close correctly. Again a challenge for the warmer weather and we need to find a good bumper cover.

We will also need to do something with the power steering oil tank hose as it keeps leaking. I think the pipe may have become porous. Hopefully we can cut it a little shorter and refit it at the next service.

Finally we re-fitted the coil cover plate and did a wheel rotation (fronts to rears). Car now has 407 kkm on it and still has a smooth running engine. Hopefully it continues to run like this for another year or 2.

Was observing #3 misfire for a few months, maybe a year. Engine was rebuilt 20k miles ago. Coil packs are new. Replaced the 60k miles old spark plugs, nothing changed. Old ones were as good as 60k miles plugs could be. Swapped #2 and #3 coils - nothing. Swapped the whole fuel rail with a spare one, of similar age. Misfire disappeared, engine was running tad rougher, LTFT dropped from 0% to -2%. My injectors saw only 93 gas for the past 13 years, and were overhauled/cleaned a few years ago.

Anyways, just installed a brand new Bosch injectors, LTFT rushes to 0% again, engine works smoothly, no misfires. Injectors were long overdue, I would say.

Now, oxygen sensors reaching the end of their life span, again. As per Bosch datasheet they last 100k miles. I replaced them not so long ago as I remember it, but I had one child back then, and now they are 3 thugs lurking around. Tempus fugit... When did I get old?..

How many miles did the injectors have? Mine are at 197k miles. I have cleaned them and thrown on new O-rings and filters 3 times since 121k miles.

I received the rear camera for the V70 AWD a few days ago from Slovakia. I will likely need help trying to install this as they give 3 version of install, but the design of the supplied unit doe not appear to match any of them.

This is otherwise a neat little unit that fits in place of one of the license plate light units, but still has a light unit fitted:

Rear back up camera for P2
Rear back up camera for P2
