Anti-skid service required
Anti-skid service required
I recently got a 120K service on my 2004 S60, incl. timing belt and tensioners, as well as front struts, control arm bushings and a power steering fluid reservoir. This is the first time since I've owned it (1.5 years, 36K miles) that I've done anything other than rear brake pads and oil changes, which I did myself. 2 days later the car started, but quit immediately, with the message "anti-skid service required." The mechanic replaced the antenna ring and when the car still didn't stay running, said the CEM's memory had somehow been erased. They performed the appropriate download and it worked fine the rest of the day. The next morning the same thing happened. Now they are saying that I need to "start" with replacing the ABS module, to the tune of $1000+ but that may not solve the problem. Anyone ever heard of this?

So far everything you had done was necessary for the longevity of your vehicle. I dont know if the antenna ring is worth it. Throwing $$ parts just to start? Are you lucky enough to have more than one dealer in your area? Control arm bushings $500, 120k $600, struts/mounts $800 and they have the stones to tell you they MIGHT fix your problem for 1k more. I dont know who your dealing with but that diagnosis is weak and pathetic. Unless there is a specific hardware fault code in your brake module or losing rpm signal from brake module that is at best an educated(we hope) guess . Good luck!
