Rear Cam seal on 2.5t 2007 S60 FWD

Post by Jsquig »

I can't find any info on this specific removal procedure and am concerned about it. I want to swap out this cam seal, but this keyed, gray plastic gear wants to spin 1/4 turn before allowing tension for removing the 10mm.

This is the seal underneath the camshaft position sensor housing. Is it okay to remove the 10mm and then reverse the 1/4 turn during reinstall?

No T-belt? It shouldn't move, at least not 1/4 turn.

Do not do this rear cam seal with TB removed.
Leave the TB alone, it helps hold the camshafts in place.

I wrote a DIY VVT and cam seals in this S60 Forum.

Right on! If the cam is turning 1/4 turn before hitting a stop then it may be stopping due to a valve hitting a piston.
