rare $700/ATT-only phone option (if you wondered why there is that odd cubby in your P2, that's why)
All buttons used, NO blanks, rare
He's not the King of Clean, obviously, but we can't expect perfection from every Volvo owner, so here's a clean view of the phone module.

Wow, I had no idea. I thought maybe it was for a fold-out cupholder. We stick wallets and phones in there.

It never made sense to me, seeing that cubby in my dad's 1999 S80 TT... the vertical orientation. Somewhere in the back of my mind a quiet scribe noted "something's off" whenever I looked at it, but all that never amounted to a clear realization until I read about the phone option / cubby dichotomy yesterday. Today the world makes a little more sense.

If they're not all populated you can't take the P2 Center Stack King award, apologies in advance, Steve.
Maybe you can complete the row of buttons... 4C, 8C, 16C, etc.
Whatever the case, the phone is rare and excellent, even if you can't buy cell service (2G or 3G) for it any longer.
I read further about this phone. In UK Volvo it was £850 (well over a US grand)!

It worked with a second simcard (with the same phonenumber) you placed it in the small holder you see on the dash.
When you got in the car you turned your handy of (in my case the Nokia 6110) the phone in the car took over and worked briljantly. Speaker and Mic where in the headrest.
The dolby surround radio worked great too.
It was in my Volo V70 T5 in 2001 and worked great.

We had this in our 01 S60 in Singapore, SIM card in the slot below the number buttons and there was a handset in the armrest cubby.
The Volvo P2 Tech Holy Grail
Here's a two of three of the Holy Grail of tech options, nav and phone, but no full row. So close.

There is a company in Slovakia that modifies the pop up map unit to be blue tooth and touch screen for P2 models. Does need some mods to make it work. That is where I bought my back up camera from.
Can you remove the folding mirrors and button for me!

I never liked that pop up screen..those phones were popular in Europe seen heaps at the junkyard. Did you include the steering wheel RTI button option?...i have one and it works in VIDA just not interested in cutting my steering wheel to fit it.

I was briefly thinking to gut the internals of the phone module and install 5G electronics, would have to pull one for cheap at the junkyard then haul it (looks heavy) back to Australia...maybe a later project.
