Do you have a center channel knob on your radio? If so, maybe it's turned way down. On my car I don't hear much from the center speaker unless I turn on the Dolby Pro Logic.

WT, I think you're confusing Dolby noise reduction (works with tape cassettes) with Dolby Pro Logic (works with DVDs, CDs and some radio).

2006 S80 T6? Yeah... I have a '99 S80 2.9 and they have the speaker grille in the center of the dash, but if you have the HU611 radio (The only one that has a tape deck), then you don't have the full 9 speakers. They like to manufacture everything so that it's compatible with different packages. For example, the center speaker location is pre wired, but there's just no speaker below the grille. The same goes for fog lights- even if you don't have them, the car is still pre wired for them.
They just love to get your hopes up, huh. I had a '98 S70 T5 with the Dolby pro logic system that had a center speaker. After it got totaled by some idiot fresh off the boat from another country, I got my S80 and saw that it had the speaker grille and got all excited. My experience with the S70s was that if they didn't have the center speaker, there wouldn't be a place for it on the dash. Not so with the S80! Bummer.

Try your different sound modes, some of them really suppress the center speaker. 3-channel works pretty good on mine.
Also try the adjustments. It took me a little while to figure out that there's two functions on each knob, and you have to pull it (once it's released) until it clicks, to get the second function.
I think on mine it's labeled something like center/effect...
'Course, if it ain't there, ain't gonna do a thing...
