When working on the turbo or CBV, I just put a moving pad over the engine, and lay down with both hands free. But then I am a spry, flexible septuagenarian :)

Junkyard trip today yielded some goodies: A C70 sub-frame brace,an ashtray, and a mostly intact cup holder.
Brace cost a whopping $13 !! :D

Can you still get the 'rooster combs' for the drink holders to replace the wore out originals? I wonder if one had a good original if someone could find a similar material to the rooster combs and one could make your own replacements.

I then found this on EBay for a supposedly upgraded cup holder and at a reasonable price:

Managed to spring a leak, a hole on the thermostat cover, near where the upper radiator hose connects.

I'm planning to do a temporary fix with JB well and stanless steel zip ties to tide me over until I can source a replacement, but following the "might as well" rabbit hole past the radiator hoses and to the thermostat housing gasket that has signes of a slow leak. The question now is:

Can the intake manifold gasket be reused?

From what I understand, the thermostat housing cannot be replaced without removing the intake manifold. The one on there now is 2 years old, replaced when I did the PCV

Couldnt find a coolant leak, but I found the missing coolant: in the oil
Compressions seems okay, but two spark plugs have the porcelain part looking very clean... Leakdown test tomorrow, hopefully that'll help me decide if it's the head or the radiator (which funnily enough, might be the more expensive of the two options  )

Bit of a roll of the dice, I've reused them but they can get brittle. If you can get your hands on a spare gasket, I would

I got into an accident about 1 p.m. today. I rear-ended an F-150. The elderly couple were completely unscathed. They were both fine and very kind. They had merged into the right lane while going slower than the right lane traffic. I was getting closer to them and thought they were prepping to slow more for the right turn before the bridge. But he suddenly braked hard and this dummy hadn't left enough room for such a thing. I had more response time than I thought I did (after watching my dash cam).

Someone needs to call the law office of APS (adult protective services) & APS (Auto protective services) (APS & APS). I'm a menace.

So I spent some time tonight doing some basic fixes.

My cup holder had the 'rooster combs' removed many years ago. It stills works as effective cup holder if the cup is not large.
I think you could find some 1/8 inch rubber sheet and maybe cut out 'rooster comb' replacements. Not sure if the thickness would work.

Cleaned and straightened the brace. After paint, I'm planning on putting it up till I can do the sub-frame bushings and the two hydraulic engine mounts on the V70. No need to buy the TTY bolts twice.

Is that Riverside CT or Riverside New Jersey? Who is selling this 98 v70 and what's the contact info? PM perhaps?
