Hi, I have a 2001 V70 T-5 automatic that needs a transmission. I pulled one years ago from a parts car that the PO said Volvo had just replaced the transmission on. Same year, same V70 T-5 automatic. So I kept it after hearing all the doom and gloom stories about the AW 55-50SN transmission. I decided to check with the dealer to see if they showed the transmissions as being compatible. Of course, they show different part numbers for each car. I was hoping someone here would be able to tell me that the donor transmission will work in my car despite being different part numbers from Volvo.

The donor car VIN is: YV1SW53D711129328
The donor transmission S/N is: 01DV704432
55-50SN 8636 763
Volvo says this part number is 8251961

The VIN on my driver is: YV1SW53D912054500
Driver transmission S/N is: 01BV710261
55-50SN 9480 902
Volvo says this part number is 8251906

Can anyone tell me if the donor car transmission will work in my driver?

Thank you!
Mark

Thanks for the quick response! I don't have that, though I've been driving Volvos since 1979!
Should I just look on Amazon? So much junk sold there, I'm a bit skeptical of what I'd get.
Do you know of a reputable source for the software?

I purchased a functioning knock-off DICE unit in June for $125 on EBay. The seller no longer has it listed otherwise I'd send you a link. Getting it to function was one of the most challenging and temper-testing things I've done on a computer. (And I am quite adept at using computers). The DICE unit came with an unmarked CD. I risked it and installed the programs from the CD onto my laptop. So far so good, it had all of the useful VIDA software drivers needed to run it, and seemingly no viruses.

If you end up purchasing a DICE unit and are having trouble with the VIDA software please reach out and I can try and troubleshoot your issue. It is a very informative piece of equipment, but the UI is awful.

If you have a laptop with 8mb ram you can get "boot and go " , vida on a bootable SSD with its own operating system,
no need to wipe the laptop, it boots straight from the SSD.WIN10.
He also sells pretested dice units or the alternate JRL cable for less.

all packages have the following software environment: V1DA 2014D, V1DA 2015, VDash , Autocom/Delphi , Haynes Pro, Vol-FCR, 2014 Electronic Wiring Diagrams, Office 2019 …. all on Windows 10, with all updates.

David also sells preconfigured laptop with vida all set up.
