Volvo app doesn't update car status [2025.5 XC90 PHEV Ultra]

I have a 2025.5 XC90 PHEV Ultra and run the Volvo app on android on my Pixel 8 pro. Both are current versions (ie AAOS 5.0.5 and Pixel on Android 16.

The issue: no problems seen the first month I've had the car, but in the past 2 weeks I notice that if my wife or I park/lock/unlock/charge the car the app doesn't update and therefore doesn't accurately reflect status of lock, charge level, or even parked vs in use!

I've tried:

-ensuring car is on wifi in my garage, so it has a strong network connection

- long press to reset infotainment

-clear storage and user data in Volvo android phone app

Nothing has seemed to fix the issue.

Anyone else ever deal with this and find potential solutions?
