I'm doing the PCV repair on my 850. I have most supplies that hopefully will be adequate, but I'm concerned about using an aftermarket coupling for the lower oil trap nipple-to engine block, it looks really flimsy. This is 3/4 inch diameter nipple. There's fuel hose available that could be used for that one. Any opinions on how a section with clamps might stand up in that application?

This is what I'm looking at: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-inch-Blac ... =UTF8&th=1

Other options on this page. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=3%2F4+inch+I ... _sb_noss_2

I've never used silicone hose for anything but apparently some MVS members do. Would that be any better for heat/oil resistance?
Ex: https://www.amazon.com/Zevaroy-Coupler- ... =8-12&th=1

Volvo coupling for that nipple priced over $20.00, and how much better would it be?

That’s a heavy , oil soaked application and you want good quality rubber there.

Is the factory part NLA?

Don’t forget the debate about which side the rubber goes on…

I’ve seen both a clamped , hose style and a metal case, slip on style used as OEM, here.

Agree with the above advice. I wouldn't use silicone in that spot because it will be porous to oil vapor.

This original post somehow got double posted so I'm repeating here my reply to Erik. The post referenced in the following message refers to Erik's link to the part in question at FCP. It looks exactly like the aftermarket one included in my kit, which I don't want to use. So, the lower hose hack shown in the kikin_it pics just looks like a better, more durable solution ASSUMING the hose used will tolerate the heat/oil which, I guess, is an open question.
Comments?
To Erik copied from double post: That's the one. This is what I'm concerned about. Scroll down, shows clear pic of deteriorated lower hose/coupling and the replacement the section of hose he used to replace it. The hack seems like it will be more durable.

I suppose the OEM coupling was made that way with a metal band in place of clamps because the clamps they use are crimp type, so for that tight space screw clamps work better. Plus, IF the hose used stands up to the oil and heat, seems like it would be a lifetime repair.
