ABS codes - 2006 V70 AWD

I don't get any warning lights on the dash for these, but when I scan the car for codes these come back when removed:

1) ABS-0133 - Brake pressure sensor signal too low and

2) ABS-0136 - Brake pressure sensor signal out of range.

I believe it may be the brake sensors, which are somewhere on the car and it appears are not an uncommon fault. I nearly fell off my seat when I saw they are around $500 CDN each with tax and shipping! Yikes. It is just a simple sensor.........!

The brakes seem to work ok, but I would say compared to our 06 XC70 the pedal does feel softer with more travel. I have not tried bleeding the system in case there is trapped air. I will try to find an aftermarket replacement at a more reasonable price!

I guess my question is, is it the sensors that are failing, and if so how do you confirm it is them or something else is failing and the sensors are just warning you of an issue?

It looks like that sensor can be in two places

#8 on the bottom of the master cylinder

#29 looks a variant screwed into a fitting on one of the hydraulic lines
