Hi everyone. I have a 2010 Volvo XC60 D5 2.4 AWD automatic (205hp, P3 platform). My AC works intermittently — sometimes it cools fine, other times the compressor doesn't engage at all. The problem is getting worse over time (more frequent failures now than before).
What I have already checked/ruled out:

Electric fans: working correctly
Refrigerant: system has been recharged, no major leaks found
The compressor physically works when the AC does engage

The failure is purely intermittent — sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes the compressor just won't kick in at all. It seems to fail more often when the engine is hot.
My main suspect is the AC refrigerant pressure sensor (pressostat/pressure switch), as this seems to be a known issue on this platform.
My questions:

Does the P3 XC60 pressure sensor have a self-closing Schrader valve, so I can replace it without evacuating the refrigerant first?
What OEM part number do you recommend for the pressure sensor on this car?
Could it be something else causing this intermittent failure? I'm also thinking about the AC relay, the compressor clutch coil, or a wiring/connector issue. Has anyone had similar symptoms caused by something other than the pressure sensor?
Is there any way to confirm the diagnosis at home before buying parts, without a professional scanner?

Any help is hugely appreciated. Thank you!

Measure and adjust clutch gap. "Zip tie " methoud is working for some depending on gap.
