Radio Code, does anyone work for volvo?

Post by Macs&Volvos »

Hey Everyone,

I just brought a used 940 Turbo. It still has it's stock radio but it is asking me for a code. I called the volvo dealer by me and asked them for the code, but they wanted to charge me for it and also said that they would want to put the code in for me.

I wanted to know if there is anyone on this forum that works for volvo and code email the code to me. The VIN is YV1JA8742M3000993 and my email is [email protected].

Thank you so much!!

It is absurd that they want to charge you and put it in themselves... If at all possible, I would avoid this dealer in the future. All decent dealers give you the code without payment and allow you to enter it yourself. That said, it would be nice to know the model number of the radio in your Volvo.

I had the same situation with the 850 I acquired but the dealer I called had me fax a copy of my registration & drivers license along with the serial & model numbers off the radio. They were very helpful & did'nt charge me anything. I'd find another dealer willing to help you. If that does'nt work, ask them for Volvo Americas phone number. I'm sure they will help you.

I believe the radio is a CR-814 but I will have to doubt check when I get out of work later.

As for the dealer, there is no way I will go there for anything. I normally work on my own car anyway so this should not be an issue.

This is the one free service that Volvo insist on keeping free. No dealer should charge for it.

It depends on the dealer, however, as to the checks he makes to ensure that you actually acquired the radio legally. Some will accept a phone call and some want to see the radio and vehicle.

Try a different dealer. There are plenty out there.
