hissing sound 97 850 NA

I replaced the PCV system, and when I started the engine, I could hear a hissing sound from the manifold area. The other symptoms are a rough idle and very hard braking. It would suggest an intake manifold gasket leak, but why the hard braking? What did I mess up this time?

No waste here. I was about to suggest these are classic symptoms of a large vacuum leak.
