1996 850 Wagon Brake Light Switch location?

Post by davepc71 »

Hello all.

I have a 1996 850 Wagon non-turbo (96K mi) in which the brake lights have stopped working. Brakes themselves are fine, all parking/running lights are good. Fuses have been swapped, bulbs have been checked, so I guess that kinda narrows it down to the brake light switch :)

My question is...Where is the brake light switch located so I can swap that ought or at least check the connection? The last brake light switch I tinkered with was on a 67 Mustang and it was located on (above) the brake pedal itself...Needless to say, I didn't see it there on the Volvo

Thanks in advance!

Have you found it?
iIt is situated behind brake pedal arm (upper part). You have to remove sound insulation to remove connector from switch.
If you are still lost I can provede with a scan desciping the replacement procedure.
