Brake pad recommendation 1999 S80 T6

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Brake pad recommendation 1999 S80 T6

Post by dcarlson12 »

I did a search and found this discussion at another Volvo forum site: http://www.volvoforums.com/m_41054/tm.htm and followed a couple of the links to Vovo parts suppliers.

The existing front pads on my 1999 S80 T6 grab very well but produce a lot of dust and seem to wear out very quickly.

Most comments seem to indicate that non Volve i.e. third party pads cause a lot of squeeling noise.

Has anyone found/used third party/after market pads which maybe don''t grab quite as well but adequately and which produce less dust and last a lot longer the the OEM''s?

I do notice that the rear pads, which of course do a lot less work, don''t produce anywhere near as much dust as the fronts and also wear a lot less.

Has anyone, for example, tried the Akebono part#EUR794? http://www.akebonobrakes.com/aftermarke ... index.html

Thks.

I always just use OEM pads but I have 70 series cars. I just put up with the dust and switch out my own pads- it's easy. But I have read a lot of good things about the Akebono pads. Good luck!

I put Akebonos on my 850 in the front, almost zero dust what so ever. I'm impressed. No squealing at all. Great stopping power.
