I got my H&R spacer/stud kit, so I just poked behind my wheel to see what gives.
I removed the caliper, pulled the rotor and then pulled the hub off. It looks like the ABS 'sprocket' is pressed onto the hub, what's called a "cartridge hub" or something like that, in Volvo nomenklature.
I can press the original studs out, but they won't come out because the ABS sprocket is in the way. How is that removed from the hub? How is it put back on afterwards?!
I don't see any other way to make this happen, but I know that many others have mounted spacers, so here's hoping that someone can tell me what I'm missing.
I am THIS >...< close to getting my S60R wheels on the car, but I am starting to get real annoyed. Now I have to put it all back together so I can go to the airport and pickup some folks tomorrow. ARGH!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
The offending part is the pulse wheel and it is pushed off. However, in their wisdom, the designers have made special tools a necessity.
The attached shows how the tools are used and what they look like. I am sure you can find, or manufacture, something that will do the job.
Bill.
