Hi
I have decided to do an interim oil change but cannot seem to find which oil to use.I''m guessing a fully synthethic but can you tell me which grade. There seems to be conflicting grades recommended.
Thanks

10 w 30, you can't go wrong unless you're in sub zero conditions

Would either 0W-30 or 5W-30 be as god as it can sometimes go below freezing during the winter ?

Personally I live in the South and sometimes it dips below freezing here. Although I'm sure I'm fine with 10W-30 all the time, I use 5W-30 in the colder months. If you're going to switch to synthetic, make sure you don't have any engine leaks. I use Mobil-1

Okay...maybe the same applies...if the dip isn't much below freezing then just stay with 10W-30 all the time- you're fine.
When I said engine leaks, I mean any weeping at all. If you have any, switching to synthetic is sure to make them worse. In that case, just stick with 10W-30 non-synthetic and change your oil every 3000 miles (not what Volvo recommends- IMO their change interval is absurd and likely to cause future problems) and if you have a turbo and run it at all, let the car idle for about 30 seconds before switching it off, to keep your oil from coking onto your hot turbo. Good luck!
