check engine light

Post by markspangenthal »

Recently I had a problem with overheating. That is when the check engine light came on. I had the termostat changed, that fixed the over heating problem but the light is still on. Is there a way to turn it off?

The two are probably coincedental. Check engine means something with emissions system is broken or malfunctioning. You didn't mention your volvo model, but you need to retrieve the code(s) that set off the light and go from there.

You may be able to get codes without a tool or trip to the dealer. Ozbrick has the codes' meanings (look in my Links page).
