In middle of replacing Seat heater 2004 V70 T5

Post by pdr1966 »

I ordered the OEM part through a Volvo specialist who required my VIN# to get the part.
I have the seat all apart, and ready to install the pad, however I think the pad is not exactly correct, it is close, but not identical, it somewhat appears that for instance the horizontal lines under your but on a T5 are straight, and on a 'premium' seat they are curved.
the part numbers are different, but again, this could be a case of a different part number being close enough for similar applications??
Does it sound like this is the wrong heater, or are they somewhat close, and make it fit kind of deal???

Should I peel and stick the new heater over the existing one, it seams as if I may tear the foam if I try to remove the old one, unless maybe I am to heat it.

Hoping to get this done this weekend!
Thanks
Peter in Toronto

Welcome to MVS.
Can you post up the 2 different part numbers (original and new) and I'll look in VADIS to see if they are compatible.

VIDA says that the new part number is almost correct, almost. Perhaps you transcribed the last digit incorrectly?

I'm showing "HEATER (Superseded from 8686605) 30675156"

You have a T5, which has sport seats. The part 8686605 is for sport seats (which is why there's a ...55 and a ...56 in the new part number--...55 is for 'comfort' seats, ...56 is for 'sport back' seats). Which is why your heater pad doesn't fit, they sent you the wrong one for your application.

30675156 is the part you want. (The odd part is that myswedishparts.com shows the crossref correctly, so I don't know why your supplier got it wrong.

Certainly your original heater's number comes up for your car (no surprise there) but the other number cannot be found. I even did a parts search on the internet but still, nothing. There are some numbers that are close to it in VADIS but not the same and they are for the pad that goes between the heater and the seat skin, not the heater. Double check the numbers and post back. If the number is correct, do you think that the seller is using their own part numbers or is this truly a Volvo # ? Or, have they made a mistake in their listing?
I'll also check for European part numbers if needed but before that, I'll wait to hear back from you.

I double checked the numbers, the replacement part is the 30675155, made in poland, outside bag label number matches the ink stamped number on the pad.
If you send me your email, i can send you a photo from my blackberry showing the two on top of each other.
IF this is as CLOSE AS IT COMES AVAILABLE, I can continue and put this together today, otherwise I will wait and get the proper part, but I am no convinced as you say that a 30675156 actually exists!
Again, thankyou for your help as it is Saturday AND your thanksgiving, getting this information is almost impossible.

I just took a look at that part number for European Volvo's in my copy of VADIS (set to Volvo Europe) and still that number does not come up as legit.

Which one, 30675155/6? If so, it's too new for VADIS, VIDA states it was superseded in '06. (Boy am I going to miss VIDA when my 30 days is up :? )

I just looked for the one ending in 5.
No wonder I can't find it...my VADIS, although the "latest" is no longer made (only VIDA now) and it was good through Jan '05. Still good for a lot of stuff!
