My '03 Volvo S40 has a creaking noise that I can't seem to pin down to one location.
About three months back I had the brakes replaced and the creaking started about 3-4 weeks ago. Is it connected to the brake replacement I couldn't tell you?
However I thought that the creaking was a bad front suspension as the front of the car was "loose" so I replaced both front struts and bearings. This didn't cure the creaking noise but the suspension was bad.
I just can't seem to pin down the noise to one location or one senario. It mostly creaks when the brakes are applied at slower speeds and acceleration from a stop. I can't tell if it creaks while driving.
If anyone can give me any suggestions it would be appreciated.
2003 volvo s40 - creaking
I had similar a creaking in the front of my '03 VW Golf TDI. She creaked like an old wooden ship!
Anyway, I discovered it was the front sway bar. I liberally squirted WD-40 onto the rubber bushings and the creaking was silenced!!!
I don't know if your case has the same root cause, but it does, it's an easy fix. Good luck with your creaking.
