850 1994 blinking up arrow
my 1994 850 volvo had a blinking arrow light turn on in my dashboard a few weeks ago. I replaced the PNP switch because i thought that was the problem and i also shifted from park to low gear to try that as well and for a week and a half the light went off but today as i was driving the light started blinking again and as i tried to pull away from a stop sign my engine reved and it took me a while to get going a wouldn't shift properly.....Help Please!

Sounds like the PnP switch might not have been adjusted correctly. Did you do the replacement? That or the RPM sensor- it can also do that. Read your trouble codes and post back.

The diagnostic port is under the hood, near the washer fluid bottle. Here is a link:
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.ph ... opic=47502
Plug the flywire into port A-1 for the transmission. The link instructions focus on port A-2 but it all works the same in port A-1.
Pull the codes and post them back.
Here is another good thread on PNP switch alignment if you haven't seen it:

Not that I know much about repair issues or anything, but my '94 850 recently had this problem. After replacing the pnp switch didn't remedy the problem, the guys at the fix-it shop looked at the check engine codes again, and it was the #2 or #3 transmission solenoid.
That cost a pretty penny.
That cost a pretty penny.
