Problem with my 2001 v70-xc driver's door lock and window controls. Car has 120,000 miles on it.
When the left front door lock started chattering the Volvo shop said to replace the Door Lock Assembly. All of the other doors lock and unlock with the key fob so I have been ignoring it. Then a couple of months ago the left front door window control module quit working so it has now become a nuisance not to be able to roll down windows, adjust the mirror or lock the doors from the driver's seat.
So today I bought a new Door Lock Assembly and installed it. Thinking this would fix the door lock problem then I would attack the window module. No such luck.
The other doors still lock and unlock with the fob but the driver door is still not working. I checked the fuses and they seem fine. I found a list of fuses and relays on Volvoxc.com, but did not find a relay for the door lock or the module.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to check next?
PS...the volvo shop said I needed to replace a brake relay for the rear brake lights. I replaced a relay that filled up two slots with the single relay the shop sold me. The brake lights work now but for some reason the shop said I needed to put another single relay in the other slot. I don't imagine that has anything to do with the door problems.
Thank you,
