What is the correct method for checking the Variable valve timing unit #31251212 or #1275528 and the cam position sensor #1275599 ? I would like to verify if they are operational before I spend $$ that maybe isn't needed .I still have a CEL code P0011 = ECM6440A .Can't seem to find anything online that gives good info on the procedure.Have cleared the light 2X but still comes back
Thanks !!

Unfortunately Volvo is now all about replacing items until they get the correct item replaced...nothing on testing circuits or solenoids. And...I'm not familiar with what you ask. That said, there was one file in VADIS that I was able to find that talks about timing and teh VVT. Maybe it has something in it that will help you. The information is near the bottom of the following pdf file:
I also found this document that shows how to "check the VVT unit" It is also near the bottom of the file. I hope one or both of these help you:
P.S. I found one more file (checking valve clearance). Now you have all that I have on VVT in your car.
